Oldsmobile Bravada?
Never heard of, seems quite rare?

Why no comment? :(

A bit rare, I suppose. But it's basically a re-badged Chevrolet Blazer, which was the more popular model.

Nice find Garco.

I wasn't expecting such a car in this low-budget (terrible) movie...
Maybe they bought it cheap, but I think they lend it somewhere, as it was only appearing in a short scene.

It's a 1991-1994 model, so many would consider it to be "old" by 2007. I'm sure it wasn't too expensive to buy, or even borrow.

I bought my 2000 Bravada for $3000 so it probably wasn't.

I like mine alot... although this older model doesn't have all of the luxuries that the newer ones do... heated seats, CD changer, etc. Essentially it's a top-line Blazer Tahoe LT with a different grille, like Ford Guy said.

The Oldsmobile Bravada, Chevrolet Blazer and GMC Jimmy were indeed siblings, though the Bravada was the more
gifted out of the litter. It was marked as a more sophisticated vehicle. It was also more pleasing to the eye with it’s
tuxedo-like paint finish. The Blazer and Jimmy had chrome and black plastic trim on their exteriors, while the Bravada
had body color bumpers, side cladding and trim.

If given a choice of the Bravada, Blazer or Jimmy, I would pick the Bravada as it was the more upscale vehicle. As a side
note, Oldsmobile offered a special bright silver metallic color in which the Bravada looked its best.

I've never heard anyone talk about a Bravada so extensively, it's just a regular, relatively common, run-of-the-mill car. Nothing too special about it really.

I can say the same thing about Camrys, and many others can say the same thing about box-body Grand Marquises, for example :p To each his own my friend.

I'm not saying it's a bad car, I like it ok it looks quite nice to me, I even sat in one like this once and it was very comfortable actually. I'm just wondering why the long discussion? I would not expect such a discussion about a Camry or a Grand Marquis either for instance.

It's probably because it's only the second Bravada on the site (and the only one from the 1991-1994 generation). Plus, I don't think too many other people had heard of it. Let's face it...it wasn't as common as its "siblings" and was the more luxurious one.

:wow: Wow, I didn't notice there were only two on the site. They certainly aren't that rare in real life, I wonder why they don't appear in movies?

Maybe Chevy/GMC appear more often in movies because used by police or other official forces, and then sold as second-hand?

Btw it indeed looks nice because less common, but the uncommon SUV that I really like is the GMC Typhoon, a performance version of the GMC version of that car :)

To be honest, I had no idea they were produced as early as 1991. I thought it was something GM did in the last throws of Oldsmobile. I know that late-model Bravadas were very easy to find.

This has to be the first US brand which exclusively produced cars to apply its badges and character to a truck platform. It precedes the Cadillac Escalade, and Buick Rainier.

I don't know... Plymouth had the Trailduster and Voyager full-size van in the late 70's and early 80's

This was the first modern-style luxury SUV (I know Jeep sold the Grand Wagoneer a long time before, but they aren't anywhere close to being modern).

The FIRST GENERATION Oldsmobile Bravada is a little known gem of GM.

It is indeed quite a bit more than just a re-badged Blazer or Jimmy. The differences in the Bravada have earned it undying respect from not only those who own them but also those who ride in them. When compared to all other vehicles in it's class it easily stands out as vastly superior. It was well ahead of it's time. Oldsmobile and GM would have been wise to further develop the idea which the Bravada seemed to embody, the idea that has now taken the vehicle industry by storm; ALL WHEEL DRIVE.

The Oldsmobile Bravada came standard with a Borg Warner transfer case which split torque 65/35 between front and rear. This was used in conjunction with the 'SmartTrak' system which gave the Bravada the ability to transfer torque to each individual wheel as needed. I have never found anything that gets along so well in the snow. Check around in some internet forums and you will find that this Borg Warner AWD transfer case can easily handle 800+ HP without any modification. The only other use of this transfer case was on certain GM minivans, which also shine due to their handling/traction capability. The Bravada CAN NOT be put in 2wd, 4H, 4L, etc. AWD ALL THE TIME.

Furthermore, my 1992 Oldsmobile Bravada came with a fuel injection system which gives it a little more go then others in its class. It's a central port system that gave mine over 200HP off the factory floor. It's 4.3L engine is essentially a smallblock350 minus the rear 2 cyclinders. That means massive potential for upgrading as all those standard, readily available parts are already mass produced(cheap).

Now add the standard leather, power everything, and all those other amenities. You'll find that the first gen Olds Bravada is one of the finest things ever produced by GM.

I can say more but I think that's a satisfactory Bravada rant. I F*CKING LOVE my Bravada.

Ohyeah, and Oldsmobile had produced trucks like 80 something years before the Bravada, if I remember right. Oldsmobile actually pioneered a lot of the features seen in today's vehicles. The also invented the automated production line or something like that.
