One vehicle which has this 'rounded square' radiator design is 1908-1910 Rambler. Link to "www.santiagosc.com" |

Note that this car does not have a thick brass radiator as most of this era do. I wonder if it is something air-cooled? |

I'd love to add my $.02, but sadly I haven't the faintest idea. I think it's real. |

I won't bet on anything or agree/disagree with anything that's been said here, but I'll leave this 1909 Middleby Model A Runabout as a strong suggestion (note the handle in the center on the hood/bonnet, gas lamps, shape of the radiator/grille etc etc):![]() ![]() Another 1909 Middleby (Model B Surrey, as it seems) from the back: ![]() -- Last edit: 2020-01-05 00:55:01 |

The thing looked so gauche that I made my built by the props dept. suggestion based upon that. I have no reason to disagree with your assessment, but must add that I had not previously encountered this make, so have learned something new. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gBXuG7Oj6AE NZ, air cooled is right. https://www.american-automobiles.com/Middleby.html -- Last edit: 2020-01-04 23:04:05 |

The car in the links is on display at the Luray Caverns Car and Carriage Museum in Luray, Virginia. This was filmed in Pocantico Hills, New York, not too far from there. -- Last edit: 2020-01-04 23:11:47 |

That video is very helpful. So, at that time when that report was made, there were (or still are) only 3 remaining examples of the Middleby, one of which is mentioned at 3:42, which according to them, belonged to some collector in Connecticut (even closer to the film's filming location in New York, then). And looking at that particular example it has to be this one: 1908 Middleby Model A Runabout (in the youtube video, it was incorrectly described as a 1909 model) ![]() https://www.flickr.com/photos/99822528@N00/8045513738/in/photostream/ (currently located at Pioneer Auto Museum in South Dakota) And it also appears to be the closest example of the only 3 remaining Middleby's then (the light red one at Luray Caverns Car in Virginia and the blue one at Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles in Pennsylvania), as it's missing the windshield, and the fenders are less angled (see picture here for comparison). |
