With that heavy center grille panel and what appears to be wrap-around bumpers, I'm inclined to think this is actually a '49.
In addition, with a one-piece windshield, it should be a Land Cruiser.
(Land Cruisers, Starlight coupes and convertibles were the only 1947-1950 Studebakers to have one-piece windshields.)

I disagree with 1949; the bumper is of the slim type and doesn't wrap around (it has the extensions making it appear so). The '49 bumper guards were further apart, while these are the inset ones of a 1948. Agree with Land Cruiser though.

You're quite right about the bumper guard placement.

But we still have the heavy chrome center panel to deal with. Plus, note how the two horizontal grill bars are emphasized in heavier chrome, a feature of the '49 models.
I believe this is definitely a 1949 grille.
Do we have a '49 Land Cruiser with '48 bumpers or a '48 Land Cruiser with a '49 grille?
