And in the background the Parliament of Austria.

This R20 seems to have the 1977+ door handles.
And unless the trim of this car is known or visible (old idea I reintroduce from time to time ;) ), as the [R1271] code was only for the L/TL/GTL trim, shouldn't this car just have the generic [R127] code?

1977 Renault 20 [R127]?

L/TL/GTL are the only possibilities in case of 1977 R20s, means that all R20s were still "R1271" this year (untill 1978 MY) and in fact cars with such trim like in this one (it is TL/GTL) and small wheel arches were R1271 exactly for entire production period - untill 1981. But [R127] we use too, in case of later cars with similar trim (when there were more codes).

Sorry, I just forgot a huge part of this 6 months old discussion (and most certainly will ask again later, as I already did in some other IMCDb pages) :/
And the movie was released in 1978, so this car is indeed most likely a 1977 only model.

But even if I agree with the R1271 code for this one, for me, and unless an exact identification in comments (like your last one ;) ), 1977 means 1977+. So, as I don't know the trim hints nor the MY ones for the Renault 20, a 1977 Renault 20 [R127] is a possible combination in my mind, as it could be a 1980 GTD model as well as a 1978 TS one...

True, in the early 1980s the TS'es and GTD's started to look nearly identical, but in fact cars of this period we have as R127. I know what do you mean, but same way if we were not 100% sure about the version, we should not set the year and we do it. So if there is default year, IMHO it is not wrong to have also default code for this year. Worth to note that after all, the 1970s R20s aren't so hard to distinguish, what is needed to do that is mostly the side view, this way the risk of mistake is not so big. :)
