The number plate looks like a fake Swedish one made with West German equipment. The shape of the 6 is wrong for Sweden. http://www.worldlicenseplates.com/world/EU_SWED.html |

Number plate characters seem too light to be old German ones. Looks very handmade (not vertically centered). |

The characters are similar to the old German ones, but they aren't authentic. The shapes are different. It's also obviously printed on plastic (my impression), not mechanically formed in aluminium, like usual im Germany. -- Last edit: 2007-09-25 22:15:08 |

@chris: yes, I know. The company Utsch (www.utsch.com) makes a lot of money with this. Also a lot of machines and tools from the local plate-makers were sold to Eastern Europe after here was no use for them any more. After November 2000 the DIN-characters were out of use for new plates. Since that time all German plates are made in the new style. Between 1995 and 2000 you could choose between both styles by registering a car. -- Last edit: 2007-09-25 22:40:06 |
