From the book: R. G. LeTourneau Heavy Equipment: The Electric Drive Era 1953-1970, this is either a Double-C(Model C-10), a Series L-50(Model C-8), a Series L-60(Model C-8), a Series L-130(Model A-8), or a Series L-140(Model A-8). All of these scrapers had a tandem-axle tractor or lead scraper(shown in the picture), and a single-axle trailer(you can see the hitch on the rear of the scraper)with the exception of the Double C, which had a tandem-axle scraper trailer. I would guess it is either the second or third I mentioned. The L-50 became the L-60, and the L-130 became the L-140. These are the only scraper models in the book to have a tandem-axle tractor and a front mounted cab. I know that LeTourneau was building "Lournavista" in Peru and "Tournata" in Liberia, but I don't know of any LeTourneau based projects going on in the Amazon at the time. |
