Cool - just found the one and the same image on Flickr stating this is indeed a T5566C https://www.flickr.com/photos/seacoaler/54012042495 |

I'm not arguing for or against the ID, but my antennae are twitching whether jcb is seacoaler's alter ego. Or vice versa ,,,,, |

Two sources confirm the Venturer and other new names were introduced in 1970. "A revised range of standard models has been developed by the company and new model names have been chosen. Two axle tractive units which provide for operation at up to 34 tons (limited to 32 tons under resent regulations in the UK) are named Borderer, (twin)-steer tractors designed for up to 35 tons are named Leader and 6x4 tractors for up to 44 tons have the name Venturer. In the rigid field the 6x4 range is the Searcher and eight-wheelers come in the Defender range. two new models for the Commercial Motor Show are a Leader (twin)-steer tractive unit" CM Archive Link to "archive.commercialmotor.com" From Link to "www.trucksplanet.com" "In 1970 Atkinson gave all its models names to replace the old type names that had lapsed. The range consisted of tractive units Borderer (4x2) and Venturer (6x4), 2-axle chassis Raider, 3-axle Searcher and 4-axle Defender. The new model for this generation was the twin steer tractive unit Leader (6x2)." Other than it being (probably) a Mark 2 naming the 1967 unit needs '240 Gardner' to come to the rescue I think. -- Last edit: 2024-09-25 15:23:41 |
