Could it be a 1966 Pontiac Tempest? |

I'm more interested in the white sports car behind. Alfa Romeo? Lancia? Maserati? It's not a Volvo Amazon! |

Coupé also means " cut " in french.. i guess you can't get more " Coupé " than those two.. ![]() |

@zodiac, the white "sportscar" will get its own page, soon... |

Yes, it is! |

I was also thinking on this car, I first thought it was an Alfa 2000 Spint, a Renault Caravelle or a Volvo Amazon, but the proportions don't exactly match. Anyone knows what this could be? I'm genuinely intrigued... |

![]() ![]() Ok, sorry for writing this here, but I did a little bit of research on the matter of the white coupé, and after finding another view of it on the episode and enhancing the light of the image, I think it is a Volvo Amazon Coupé but without the side trim. What do you think? ![]() |

There wasn't any such thing as an Amazon Coupé, only two door (1962-70). @02GRN: Is the white one in your thumbs the same one as in the main? Because the one in the thumbs is most definitely a two door Amazon. But the one in the main looks very much different. |

Yes, sorry @zodiac, I meant the 2-door Amazon by saying 'Coupé' I think the two (the main picture and the thumbnail I posted) are the same car, they are in the same scene and in the same place. If you look closely in the picture I posted, you can see the Tempest on its left side, so given the positioning, it would be the same car. If you look closely at the main picture, the chrome areas match the ones on an Amazon, however I could agree that the wheel arch looks a little bit bigger than it should, but maybe 1) it can be a problem of the lightning, given that the car is not fully visible and it is a night shot from a 1986 series 2) given that all the cars here seem to belong to a junkyard and are missing parts, the wheel arches could have been cut-out? But concluding, the two cars are most probably the same, given their placing and similarities, and an Amazon. |

But how about Link to "i.pinimg.com" : - The angle of the rear window, and the fact that it isn't curved ('panoramic'), but almost flat, - The angle of the rear side window, a much sharper angle than of the Amazon. - The rear number plate which in the main is almost standing on the rear bumper while on the Amazon is mounted on the boot lid (In the thumbs there's no plate at all.). - The wheel arch. The main reminds me too much of a 50's Italian car I just cannot ignore it. Alfa Romeo 1900? |

![]() I'll try to answer you @zodiac: -The rear window (at least to me) seems to be curved, in a similar shape than the one on the Volvo. It can also be seen the chrome trim between the rear and rear side windows, at least in my opinion. -The rear side window seems to be indeed sharper than the one on the Amazon, but maybe the picture ratio is slightly off? I remember recently having a similar ratio problem with the hardtop of an older Ferrari 250, which looked to be wider... -I circled in yellow what seems to be to me the chrome piece above the rear plate, on the boot lid, which if this is it, it would be in the same place than in the Amazon's. Maybe the plate has been moved below, or maybe it has fallen, the car seems to be abandoned... Also in green I circled the door handle and tailights, which to me seem to be the same ones than on the Amazon. The side crease also seems to be equal. -Finally I completely agree that the wheel arch looks bigger than it should, but maybe it is a problem of the image ratio, the lightning or as I said, it could have been cut off. -I also looked at Alfa Romeo 1900s before, but the rear tailights were less sharp and the space between the door and the rear wheel arch is practically null (SWB), unlike here (LWB). I took the screenshot of the thumb from here, if you want to take a look at it: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x8ezt8d The car only appears briefly on the first scene, which lasts until minute 8:00 approximately. I may be wrong, but I think that the two cars are the same... -- Last edit: 2024-08-30 11:57:55 |

All I can say is that I have seen that many Volvo Amazon I'm well aware how they look. My first car was a MY 1960 and my grandfather's was '65 two door California White much the same as the one in my last link. And that I've seen a car similar to the one in the main, but I cannot at the moment recall where or what it was. I haven't the strength to argue any more as my mother has died. I think I'll have a break from imcdb for a while. |

I can only agree with the previous speakers. For me, the IMCDB is always a place I can go when I'm going through a crisis. Sometimes it was just good to meet friends here. |
