Spartan Roadster, made 1973-95 as a kit for initially Herald/Vitesse/Spridget rust buckets, then adapted for Cortina oily bits, 4000 sold altogether. Front fairly consistent but various rear shapes available, including 2+2. I think this bulkier rear was one of the later shapes, but it's got a Spridget windscreen and maybe Spitfire Mk4/1500 wheels. |

dsl: I marvel at your knowledge, as you know. However, I don't think the Spartan kits were ever designed to be based on anything but Triumph and then later, Ford? The 'screen was supplied as part of the kit. |

Wheels could be off such as a Ford Escort Mk4. |

Ooops - I mis-typed Spridget for Spitfire. |

It looks from this photo and faint hints elsewhere that Brooklands have 1 or 2 Spartans they use to take punters for track tours - and the same driver. Also the Alamy photo shows folk in rear seats, so with the long door in both pics it's a Plus-Two, which could be Triumph or Ford based. See also this pic And to correct something else I said above - it wouldn't have been a Roadster, but 2-Seater if it had only 2 seats. The Roadster was a later 2+2 version with various upgrades and body tweaks accompanying its specific adaptation to only Ford oily bits. Full Spartan listing here |
