This is one of the fairly rare Rileys built after the family Riey car manufacturer went bust in the spring of 1838 and was run by the receiver, who continued production, until September 1938 when it was taken over by Lord Nuffield. This car is a Big Four or Blue Streak Riley Kestrel first registered in the East Riding of Yorkshire in August 1938. This model had Riley's new 4-cylinder 2½ litre engine that lasted in production until the Riley Pathfinder in 1956. This car has chassis number 38KX 1121 and had a 3-speed and overdrive manual gearbox and cost £415 new, pretty expensive when a Ford V8 could cost you £210. -- Last edit: 2020-06-06 23:43:21 |
