This is a 1971-78 Scania CR 145 or CR 85 S depending on the engine. The 145 referred to a V8 engine while the 85 S referred to a supercharged straight six. It has a V8 badge to the right, just beneath the number plate, which means it's a CR 145. That badge can be seen here Link to "i.pinimg.com" Scania Södertälje plant made the bodies in-house. The Scania badge at the centre makes this early rather than late in production. Hence this is a 1971+ Scania CR 145. -- Last edit: 2023-12-29 14:50:28 |

![]() This was the bus which got me interested in buses in the first place. I was born in 1971. The then Swedish government decided at some point that all children should learn to swim, and especially those within the town of Falun (Sweden) as a newly built indoor swimming pool should be used. Because of that a bus once a week came and picked my class up and drove us there. Most times there were old city buses, like old Scania-Vabis CF 76, but some times a strange square looking bus, most comfortable and with a strange sound came. That was a CR 145 and the strange sound was the V8 rumble, the first time I heard that. After a while I heard about one of those buses had burnt which added a level of suspense to the short journey. My thoughts travelled far and wide... When this bus turned up, I had to find out why the bus burnt. Apparently a tire had caught fire because of some reason, which then spread to the bus and destroyed it. Very unusual. This bus is without doubt a 1971+ Scania CR 145. -- Last edit: 2023-12-29 11:44:31 |

Thanks for the story, zodiac! Sorry to hear about your bus, too. But I can get an admin to properly identify her here, though! ![]() ![]() |
