Strange front indicators, strange colour-scheme... Was the name really 'Transporter Kombi', not rather just 'Kombi'?

T1, not T2 - Oops. I knew that, just a brain freeze
I don't think Type 2s were assembled here. I will have to check. The official name was Transporter I guess but they are commonly known in Aust as Kombi's, even the models that weren't officially Kombinationskraftwagens were called that here

Appears to be a pre 1955 as the smaller rear door was fitted after that. Wikipedia refers to them as a T1a

Have now confirmed Aust production of Typ 2's, starting in 1955 http://www.clubvw.org.au/Australian%20VW%20history.htm Even the side panels were pressed here, using tooling manufactured by Chrysler Australia
