Known as the "AQ" these had a staggered introduction in South Africa. Due to enormous demand for the HQ in Australia, shipment of CKD packs received a lower priority and GMSA relied on plentiful stocks of the previous model. The long-wheelbase Constantia and DeVille (Statesman) appeared in June, 1972, with the station wagons following by year's end, and the sedans following in March or April of 1973. The base Kommando was the equivalent of the Australian Belmont, whilst the Kingswood equivalent was the Kommando LS. South Africa never had an equivalent of the Premier or Monaro, so there was never any four-headlights-on-short-body variants sold in that country. -- Last edit: 2010-10-14 10:22:35 |
