This was built by George Barris, who created famous TV vehicles such as the Batmobile, the General Lee, and K.I.T.T.

vilero left us a history of the van:

And since this van is the star, doesn't it deserve five stars?

Matchbox had the "Stretcha Fetcha" ambulance, which was a little bigger than this, and had a different front end.

Barris did NOT create general lee OR KITT.

The latest CNBC episode of "Jay Leno's Garage" featured this at the end and they have it as a '66. That would make this based on an A-Series Sportsman.

Based on a 1966 Tradesman A-100 according to Barrett-Jackson.
