I strongly think a 300 SEL due to the rear headrests.

I think a 280 SEL or a 300 SEL

There is short right badge on bootlid: 3.5 or 4.5?

This is for sure at least a W 109 300 SEL.

That is because of:
- polished aluminium (or s/s?) on the A-pillars, where the S and SE had it painted. Also 280 SEL had it painted.
- fully chromed window surroundings on the doors, where the S and SE just had a narrow aluminium strip. Also 280 SEL had a narrow aluminium strip.
- elongated rear doors.
- possibly also the velour upholstery.

If fitted with a V8 it must be a 3.5 as the 4.5 was only sold (because of complicated reasons) in the U.S. (and Canada?). Import from the U.S. must have been rare.

3.5 outsold the others, but there was even a 6.3 option with ist special front end, just out of view here

This is Italy, there was even a 300 SL 2.8 (usually badged just 300 SEL) which actually sold more units than the 3 litre

W 109 anyway

I'm sorry! I momentarily forgot about the 6.3.

Also the 300 SEL 2.8 was based on a W 108 and thus without the chromed window surrounds and chromed A-pillar.

This is likely either a 3.5 or a 6.3, both 300 SEL [W 109].

The 6.3 front end was only the U.S. headlights exchanged by halogen inserts combined with Bosch halogen extra lights. Both of those were available as optional extras from January 1969 for reasonable little cost.

If all 6.3 had tints - I think they did but not sure if every market had them - this is not a 6.3.
