In this case, probably ok, but you cannot rely on the number plate to date London buses, as they obtained long runs of indices, and did not necessarily issue them in sequence. Later vehicles also suffered the indignity of body swapping at overhaul. In many classes of bus, LT kept two or three bodies as spares to speed the overhaul process. Generally (excuse the pun!) they endeavoured to maintain chassis integrity but again, not certainly. |
