No idea on the car, but what a fantastic picture of British suberbia! Thats a very early roundabout too... wonder where it was...

Would it be close to a port (like Dover) with a reminder for foreigners? Or could one find these "keep left" signs everywhere in the UK?

On roundabouts, yes ... there weren't all that many before WW2, and people needed reminding. During the war the Americans (to whom they were a complete novelty) tended to ignore them and try to drive straight over :D

Roundabouts have uncredibly multiplied in France these last twenty years. First, the right of way was for people coming from the right, same as any intersection. Some 15 years ago it changed and you had to give the right of way to people that were already on the roundabout. This was odd to the "cartesian" french people who found it easier to reverse their habit and translated it in "right of way for people coming from the left". But, astonishingly the most famous roundabout of the country, the Place de l'Etoile in Paris, still doesn't obey that rule. Here (an all-time nightmare already for non parisian motorists) you still have the right of way when coming from any avenue leading to the roundabout, and you rush fearlessly towards the center assuming that the people circling around the Arc de Triomphe are going to yield.
