The car would have been rhd as standard, from the factory. In what way would it be “Made for J”? Metric instruments? Different headlights? Does anyone know? Did anyone guess?

Displayed at the British International Motor Show in Oct 49, but not sold until mid-1950. Pre Oct 51 door handles.

Well, yes and no.
Quote Deliveries, including complete knock down (CKD) kits for overseas markets, began in the middle of 1950.

Wow, calm down. You can't see it there because of the poor quality of the video but it's a LHD. That's why I put "made for Japan". There was the curious circumstance that many British cars exported in the 50's to Japan arrived with LHD as they were export models. Something absurd, since they could send models with rhd to Japan... Although I imagine that the models for export were sent in bulk...
