What's interesting about this car is the Swiss licence plate, considering the movie was made in Italy. The vertical red stripe and letter "Z" at the left of the plate shows it to be a temporary or "tourist" plate, valid for a maximum of one year (the month and year of expiry will appear in white on the red stripe). The initial letters "GE" show it to have been issued in Geneva (where I lived for 40 years), and not "Genoa", Italy. The shield at the right depicts the Swiss flag, being a white cross on a red background (BTW, the "Red Cross" organisation, founded in Switzerland by Henri Dunant, uses a reverse image, that is a red cross on a white background). At the far right, we see the shield of the Canton of Geneva, being a black eagle on a red backround (left half) and an equally black "key" on a yellow backround (right half). And that's all for today's lesson on history and heraldry ! |

The half-white half-range turn indicator is interesting. I never saw one like that before. |

White front indicators are typical of Italian spec of '60/'70's cars. Two coulours on 116s, white only on 108/109 with "US style" headlamps. |

Yes, also the earlier version of W116, W123, BMW E12, BMW E21 and more other cars until 1977 had white front indicators. |

That was a strange specification of our regulation... |

At that time the italian plates were black with white letters. |
