Studebaker an americanized form of Stutenbecker. "Stuten" meaning bread slices, also in Flanders, nowadays probably not a familiar word for most Germans.

The big doughmen with their meerschaum pipes and raisin eyes are also called "Stutenkerle"

Though nowadays Stuten means "mares".
