Film date a good match for official Mini relaunch in J from 1985, which used many unique-for-J model names, including Mini Sprite (renamed from UK Mini City), a "Mini Clubman" with normal front (which my book photo shows as a white roof on a black example and headrests, so it may be high level trim similar to or above UK Mayfair). Other names mentioned are 1000 E, 1000 LE, 1000 HLE and 1300 S. My only slight doubt is the chrome grille, which is usually a 70s rather than 80s feature, and this could therefore be a bootleg 70s import, of which there were many shipped over with semi-official encouragement. But, as its colour matches the J-spec Clubman, i'll go for that instead. |
