![]() Dyna of course, but what year? It's got unusual tail light housings. Probably a North American specification ? Similar models with such tail light housings in the US : https://barnfinds.com/rare-aluminum-body-1954-panhard-dyna-z1/ https://barnfinds.com/all-aluminum-body-1954-panhard-dyna-z/ -- Last edit: 2022-04-21 23:36:14 |

Listed in US 1954-59, but only 20 Panhards (all types, as previous gen was still available) were sold in 54. |

the Dyna Z were exported to the USA from 1954 with French bodies but had to be upgraded to American standards, hence the absence of headlights. this may be the explanation (source: https://lautomobileancienne.com/panhard-aux-etats-unis/ "the Dyna Zs were sent to the United States in their French specification and only upgraded to American standards once they arrived on the continent one notices on the photograph below the absence of headlight while waiting for the assembly of the American optics. ![]() |

I'm not a panhardist (is there a term like that?), but the absence of indicator lights on the rear wings point to a 1957-59 model. Maybe something else can be narrowed down. What's odd, is that the tail lights for these US-market models haven't changed since 1954 (1954 US-market model), whereas on the French models, the larger and higher mounted tail lights were introduced in 1957, but perhaps poverty-spec models retained those smaller tail lights as well ? 1959 US-market example which still have those smaller tail lights (plus those housings) and no indicators on the rear wings : ![]() Source : hemmings So, at least a 1957 model, so far. -- Last edit: 2022-04-23 19:23:32 |

US info as far as I can find it (one book, which has lots of info, but not necessarily consistent detail): - only one model ("Saloon") sold in US 1954-58, with Deluxe Super (2-tone) added alongside for 59; 60 replaced by PL17 - very few sold 54-55 before proper import/distribution arrangements 56 onwards - there was a change for 57, when steel body replaced previous light alloy (mainly aluminium). Nothing listed about rear lights or other differences, but this changeover is an obvious candidate in absence of better info - visible running changes as listed: 56 headlights got visor rims, bigger wrapround bumpers; 59 both versions got revised side trim and full disc wheel covers, Saloon renamed Super alongside new Deluxe Super. |

Great find ! I agree this must be a 1957-58 [Z12] (the wheels exclude the 1959 model). In 1957 there were 126 Dyna's exported to the USA, in 1958 this number raised to an astonishing 283... |
