The windscreen and door hinges show that it is a Series II/IIa, the lights in the wings that it is 1968 or younger, the short sills define it as a very late IIa, from around 1970. I don't know if its based on fact or if its possibly only for the movie. There is a large capture ring mounted on a pole (stowed on the side) which is used to get a chain attached to an animal. The other end is mounted on the drum on the front of the Land-Rover. Then the chain runs out to its full length tethering the animal. Only thing to beware of is the animal (giant gorilla in this case) should not be so powerful as to destroy the vehicle.
