Also known as "Volkswagen Parati", the trade name in its home country of production, Brazil. As indicated, the model was manufactured by Volkswagen brazilian plant, in Sao Bernardo do Campo, s. It is a small station wagon built on the platform of the compact hatchback "Gol", inspired by the 1st generation of the German compact Golf, a worldwide success. For the Argentine market, it received the commercial name of "Gol Country", as mentioned. "Parati" is the name of a famous historic coastal city in the state of Rio de Janeiro, close to the border with the state of São Paulo. For the North American market, the previous generation of the VW Parati had "Fox CL Wagon" as tradename in the late 1980s, together with the sedan "Fox" (VW Voyage in Brazil and VW Gacel in Argentina). |
