Yes , it may well be a 290 base.I think it is a pre 1938 car as shown by the front end and windshield.Also , 290 sedans had four " suicide" doors as on the ambulance here .This unit has non-standard artillery wheels (Mercedes wheels were plain) ,possibly to allow for mounting of post war tire sizes? |

No , not 1938 , the 290 was produced between 33 and 37.I would think this is a ca 1936 unit. |

Looks a bit like it was made by Lueg Fahrzeugwerke GmbH of Bochum/ Germany, but I´m not 100% sure... |
