Wouldn't the proper name be Vandura?

For commercial vans, yes.

Why was there a distinction in the names between commercial and other models?

Because that's what GM decided to do with both G-Series vans. GMC had Vandura for commercial vans, Rally and variations for passenger vans, and MagnaVan for commerical cutaway models. Chevy had Chevy Van, mainly for commercial vans, then Sport Van, Caravan, Beauville, and Bonaventure for passenger vans, and even Hi-Cube vans for commerical cutaway vans, which was the same name given by Ford for their commercial cutaway vans.

What about this one, though:

It is clearly a Chevy Van ambulance.

Yes, that's commercial. 1978-81, just like this GMC.

Where's that from?

Ok, I think I confused myself a bit. So then this van is indeed a Vandura? Because you didn't really directly answer the question.

And that picture is from the movie Cobra.

Thanks, ford guy. And unless you know of some windows on this van that I don't, it's the Vandura.
