@RedBoy9199: Why not an 1802? Please tell me, I cannot spot the difference. The only thing I do know is that those wheels usually points towards a build date between Sept 1973 (MY 1974) until June 1975. -- Last edit: 2021-09-09 19:54:55 |

Im very sorry. I don't know the difference, too. |

1974+ grille and headlights' eyepits should be pure black. This car could be 1971-1973 with 1974+ wheels. |

Any reason to favour 1802?? 2002 is the usual choice. It's got a sunroof, which proves nothing but suggests it wasn't a poverty buy when new. 71+ 2002 with newer wheels works for me. |

the difference is essentially the engine = 1802 -> 1800cc engine; 2002-> 2000c; and the grille which was originally chrome and becomes two-tone. The steel rims appear from 1973 (this model) and some other details depending on the version; so .... BMW 2002 model 1973-1974 https://bmw02.info/modeles/2002.html |

These rims were applied since August 1973, as part of 1974 MY facelift. |

@dsl, and others: When looking at production numbers between April 1971 and September 1973, there were (not counting those made for USA) 52.437 1802 and 67.735 2002 made. Because of that I don't think the 2002 significantly outnumbered the 1802. I know there were also 2002 ti and 2002 tii, but I've also counted them out as those had a model name badge in the grille. (If counting the 2002 ti one has to start at 1968, as those seems to have had that partly black grille the whole production run until April 1971). This is not as easy as it first seems... -- Last edit: 2021-09-13 20:35:55 |
