Agreed, 91'-94 Buick Park Avenue. |

That's right, it's the european model with large folding side mirrors, amber parking light lenses and a flat hood ornament. |

Hmmm... I didn't know that they sold cars this big in Europe. |

I always thought most American cars in Europe from that era were grey imports. Did Buick actually enter into the European market? They aren't part of it now, at least not in the UK. -- Last edit: 2008-02-01 16:58:52 |

@G-Mann: yes, a very few Buick (as I know mostly the Park Avenue) were sold over here by the biggest Opel-dealers. US-Chevrolet, Cadillac and Buick were in the programme. O.k., you cannot say "in the programme" - some single cars were standing in the background of big Opel/Isuzu/GM-dealers. An old school-friend, who is a sales manager at Opel, told me, that the Cadillac Seville they had in their stock was sold after more than 3 years in the showroom. In the pre-DaimlerChrysler-times we had even some independent Chrysler-dealers. But except the Voyager, the LeBaron Convertible and a very few Saratoga's you haven't seen some US-Chrysler over here. In Germany there are some US-car-freaks (not as much like in Sweden or Switzerland), but usually noone of them are buying brand new US-caras at official dealers. They are interested in old ones, up to the end of the 70ies. These cars are mostly imported by private persons. |

I guess it's easier to sell American cars in European countries instead of Britain because they wouldn't need to convert the cars to Right Hand Drive. In the UK they now have Chrysler/Jeep dealers and they just starting to officially sell Cadillacs over here again (although I've never seen a Cadillac dealership, and Cadillacs are pretty rare over here). And Daewoo cars now wear the Chevrolet badge, but none of the US market Chevys are marketed over here. -- Last edit: 2008-02-01 19:14:00 |

So they were more of a novelty than something they tried to sell to the masses? |
◊ 2008-02-01 19:24 |
You can say so. Perhaps a novelty, perhaps the buyers want to be "non-conformistic" or something else. Then Chrysler has tried to sell the Neon and the Stratus, the people (the few, who have looked for these cars) were shaking her heads about the very high prices, much higher than German cars in the same size (an with much better quality). For used Chrysler's the situation is totally different - extreme low prices. And even then noone is interested. -- Last edit: 2008-02-01 19:25:15 |

There are quite a few european Park Avenues listed on this site. Among the few diferencs with the north american model (to meet european regulations) are the taillights with a larger licence plate opening, amber rear flashers, red fog lights in the rear bumper, large folding outside mirrors, side marker lights moved from under the cornering lights to behind the front wheel openings, amber flasher lenses instead of clear ones, a flat hood ornament and different seat belts. Only the base model was sold in europe, there was no Ultra/Supercharged Park Avenues there. |

Put another way, they have side indicator (turn signal) repeaters and don't have side markers. |
