ah non, pas 'beetle' bitte...mais 'käfer'...probablement une 1100, voire une des premières 1200

1100?

This is a very old VW without chromium, they were known as Typ 11 Standard Limousine. When export began in 1946 they had chromium on hubcaps and doorhandles. In 1949 the 11a Limousine Export went in production. Here in Sweden the designation Export was never used in official documents or sales literature, only Limousine, Limousine Soltak (Sunroof) or Cabriolet. With addition of 11a, 1/11 or 1/15 in the vehicles registration.

I can´t find any trace of the designation 1200 either, until 1962 when the Typ 3 1500 reached the market. Before that they were just Volkswagen Limousine.

I've got documents where 1200 appears, and before 1962...now about the 1100, I don't have any trace either

Are they contemporary documents? It can of course be different marketing in different countries, I don´t know them all either.
But if it´s later documentation it´s not necessarily accurate, the designation 1200 has been widely used for older cars in modern magazines for many years. And it can be seen in publications from different VW-clubs as well, but that doesn´t make it more true.

I would say it is the Volkswagen Standard [Typ 11] 'Brezelkäfer' from 1946. It could even be a pre-war version from 1938. Then the correct name would be 'KdF Wagen' [Typ 60]. 'KdF' means 'Kraft durch Freude' (power through joy) -- a Nazi slogan. Only very few pre-war cars survived the war.

Numbers only came up when there was more than one version. In 1964 the model 1200 replaced the Standard. The nickname 'Käfer' only came into use when other Volkswagen models appered, especially after the introduction of the 'Golf' in 1974. The very old models with a split rear window were called 'Brezelkäfer' (Brezel meaning pretzel).

By the way, the 1303s should become Typ 13 and the convertible Beetle become Typ 15 I guess?

The internal reference of these cars differs over the years, the most common model of the Type 1 is 113. The first digit is for Type 1 and 13 is for the model, in this case a lefthand drive Limousine Export. 114 would have been a righthand drive Limousine Export. Limousine Standard 111/112 respectively. Sunroof 117/118 and Convertible 151/152.

But to answer the question, I think it´s better to keep them all as [Typ 1] to make it more comprehensible.

I think that it is better too to keep Typ 1 for all the Beetles.
Since they are already not "linked" together with the "Beetle" name, the only thing left is the "Typ 1".
