B&B was a tuning house similar to RUF. The car is still a Porsche. B&B took a 911 Targa and installed the 930 Turbo engine and bodywork. They did it before the Porsche factory started to produce "genuine" Turbo Targas in 1984. |

This is the so called "Polaroid" Porsche as this car was shown on the Polaroid-stand at an exhibition in the late 1970s. It shows the typical rainbow-striping which has been used on a lot of Buchmann-automobiles, especially on the seats. I wouldn't compare RUF with Buchmann & Buchmann. RUF is specialized on Porsche vehicles only. But Buchmann & Buchmann (B&B) didn't just soup-up Porsches. They made very special versions of Mercedes (600-Series, S-class, SEC, the gull-wing), VW (Golf and Polo), BMW (3 series and bike), Alfa Romeo, Volvo 240 and even a Cadillac Cimarron. Buchmann had patents for their touch-button steering wheels, the very sophisticated in-dash computer system, the keyless-entry system and the special bodywork-paint. Some even say that the design of the Pirelli-alloy wheels, that were common in the early 80s, was from Buchmann & Buchmann too... B&B was THE company in the 70s and 80s. The engineering was top of the heap at it's time ! |
