Its a 1980, 100% sure. Grill is 1980, and color is Agate Red, a 1980 only, GM color. -- Last edit: 2007-02-04 23:49:56 |

Heard a rumour that these cars that were wrecked, which were brand new at the time, were part of a batch of rental cars mistakenly sent to hot states without air conditioning fitted. Since there were pre-sold and it would have cost GM a lot of money to send them back to the plant or send someone out to fit air-con systems it was easier and more cost effective to sell them off to the film company as stunt cars...! |

thats interesting. it would make sense too since you actually see a few of the new cars get wrecked in the end chase scene. there were a lot of older cars used for the wrecks but you did see some of these new cars get wrecked. this is kind of similar to how knight rider got a lof of their cars. the first 2 trans ams in 1982 went to knight rider for the pilot, but then there was a train wreck sometime in 1982 with a dozen or more trans ams/firebirds that had some sort of wreck and even though the cars were not damaged or some were slightly damaged, they were considered salvage and sold to the highest bidder which happened to be glen larson. some of the lower end models ended up on the Fall Guy and the T/A's went to knight rider |
