Was it sold as Jaguar make, or Daimler? |

In the US the Daimler were sold as Jaguar, as potential customers mixed up Daimler and Daimler-Benz (aka Mercedes-Benz). |

in Europe Daimler was sign of high luxury editions of Jaguar. So they were sold as Jaguar Daimler. But directly on the car was only Daimler sign. |

I can find no evidence to show that this car is actually sold in the USA, only that it could be sold in the future. http://www.forbesautos.com/reviews/2006/daimler/super_8/feature.html from September 2005. I would suggest it should be listed as Daimler Super 8 until someone can confirm if it is sold in the North American market. Currently the Daimler site shows only UK/European plus Japan as separate site locations. http://www.daimlercars.com There does not to appear to be a 'Jaguar Daimler' site or a listing for Daimler within the Jaguar-USA website. 'Daimler' is a separate manufacturers name and cars are sold as such not as 'Jaguar Daimler'. Daimler is a separate division of Jaguar Cars. -- Last edit: 2006-04-28 14:50:29 |

Lots of scenes have been made in Hawaii, though it is in USA too, maybe that some cars were sold under another name than on continental USA? |

Hawaii would be subject to the same legislation and market conditions as the continential US states. If Daimler were to be sold anywhere in the USA I would expect them to be sold initially in the New York, Washington or Califonia areas since these are their main market locations. My guess is that this car is one imported for publicity and assessment purposes, not one that was for general sale. Jaguar exports into the USA are generally over 50% of all Jaguar cars manufactured, they have always been a major market for Jaguar sales. So getting the Daimler brand into the US is probably a priority for them and for Ford. I can understand the possible confusion with Daimler-Benz and there could I guess be problems. Both have their origins with the Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft (also known as DMG or Daimler Motor Company) which existed from 1890 to 1926 and which licenced the Daimler name to be manufactured in other countries. -- Last edit: 2006-04-28 15:07:32 |

Its called a Vanden Plas. In the US they call all Daimlers Vanden Plas, and replace Daimler badges with Jaguar ones. All the fluting and otherwise up spec trim is intact. |

They are also rather popular. I would say, of that gen, about 30 percent were Daimler/Vanden Plas versions, though where I live there is some money and people usually go for the high end jags. |

My father actually had three X308 Vanden Plas'. A 2000 model, 2001 and 2003 Supercharged VDP all in Platinum. Still has the '03 model, while the '01 model was sent overseas. |
