That's the serial number from Shelby. The car itself would retain its Ford VIN for registration purposes. |

Thanks Truck_Guy. I wasn't sure how that process worked. Makes sense they need the original VIN for registration purposes. I didn't know if Shelby was legally allowed to issue new VINs after the work was done. |

Yeah. Ford built it as a Mustang GT according to the VIN breakdown. Then Shelby did their work. I wonder if this dual VIN/serial number situation is going to lead to headaches. Imagine going to local auto parts store. The VIN only knows it as a GT. Wrong parts could be used. Hopefully at the Ford dealer the Shelby serial # would come up every time. |
