For some reason very common in Israel. I saw just three in a month in 1988. a burgundy one just at the corner in Jerusalem between the old city walls and Ben Jehuda street, a cream yellow running on the lane along the sea shore in Tel Aviv or Jaffa and the third one, a white in a scrap near Jericho in the West Bank -- Last edit: 2020-10-29 15:11:44 |

They were assembled in Israel from 1964 to 1968. Wikipedia says that Israel accounted for ten per cent of all Contessa production. /vehicle_390860-Hino-Contessa-1300-PD200-1965.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hino_Contessa#Israel |

Some background here - Ephraim Illin started as Fiat distributor in 1950s and set up various Israeli car/commercial assembly deals, and after a long-running saga with BMW which failed to secure 700 assembly, switched to Hino. |
