I think it is a circa 1938 Buick Special Coupe |

Taillight position makes me consider 39 LaSalle: Bumpers are indeed Buick, but many bumpers were replaced after the war. |

Car in movie has lights mounted on the fenders. That LaSalle has its lights mounted on the main body near the trunk. |

Well, we can start with the obvious: this car is not a 1938, as it's got a one-piece rear window. It's definitely a 39 GM product, however. 39 Buick had taillights on the same level as the trunk handle and had a fuel filler door. This car has an exposed gas cap on the left-hand side as found on the 39 LaSalle/Cadillac. It's hard to see whether the taillights are on the edges of the body or on the fenders. I'm leaning towards the former upon looking at the first thumb. The car appears to have trim along the headlights and wide rectangular hood louvres which pretty much seals it as LaSalle/Cadillac as none of the other GM products had that. 39 Pontiac did have its taillights further out, however they had the fuel filler on the right. On convertibles, however, the filler was on the left for whatever reason. -- Last edit: 2020-10-13 00:20:28 |
