Taurus not a Sable. Might be an SHO or is it just a sport trim? |

Looks like one of the first years for the SHO. '89 onward. |

1990-1991 Taurus SHO. Its a 90-91 because of the color, which is "electric red clearcoat metallic". In 1989 (first year for the SHO) the only red available was "current red" with no clearcoat, and this car definitely has clearcoat paint. I can't tell whether it has basket-weave or slicer rims, which would tell us whether its a '90 or '91. |

It looks like the basket-weave. I think only the SHO Plus of 1991 had the slicers. non-pluses still had the other rims. |

Assuming that this car is in complete original state, this is a 1990 Ford Taurus SHO DOHC 3.0 Yamaha 5 spd. The way you can tell in mainly by the rims. The 1989 SHO had different rims that had larger openings. The '90 had the stock aluminum alloy racing rims. The way the rear bumper hangs low and reaches out lets you know it is definitely an SHO. And the SHO was only available in 5 spd that year. Also, the engine made in these cars for that year was specifically made for the SHO by Yamaha. The original intention of the SHO was for state troopers. However, Ford also came out with the 5.0 around the same time and the SHO was never introduced as a patrol car. The only time an SHO was used as a patrol car, was in the movie RoboCop. FUN FACTS:) |
