UK picture - background and Cortina far left (which means Oct 62 or later). |

Not very sharp but my view is that it’s a Morris-Commercial LC5 30cwt. That bulbous hub cap is a clue. -- Last edit: 2020-06-12 09:17:20 |

An early 1952 Morris-Commercial LC4 - the early ones had removable bonnet sides not hinged and the upper catches are visible, but other than that I would have said LC5 with the BMC engines. Location is UK and close by Walton on Thames if I'm reading the sign on the van, so near Thames Ditton. Could be a municipal van of some sort. The van body almost like an ambulance shape. I cannot say if its a standard body as I have not found one to compare it with (other than the GPO examples). Could it be a Saint John's Ambulance perhaps going by its age versus the Cortina? -- Last edit: 2020-06-12 21:50:15 |

St John Ambulance in attendance at the test track with the straw bales visible, I believe. There is something visible in the centre of the circle and its likely it was the St John's / Maltese cross. Its just possible if it was used as a publicity photo they didn't want an ambulance visible so it was 'doctored' to make it look less like an ambulance at the test track. Roof vent and possible lack of side windows similar to this Morris-Commercial LC3 Ambulance /vehicle_212634-Morris-Commercial-LC3-Ambulance-1948.html There is also a slight raised hump in the roof at the front where an ambulance sign would be. -- Last edit: 2020-06-13 12:44:40 |
