Looks very similar to the Excalibur that was customised by George Barris for actor Donald O'Connor ("Singin' in the Rain" etc)

Yeah... looks good to me. Series I this would have to be. In its original customized state, O'Connor's Excalibur Boattail Speedster looked like this, which is an even better match than the recent pictures/ footage:

The text below the Youtube video states that the glass for this car was cut in 1978 (either commissioned by Barris or prior to the movie - or maybe due to a mishap when shooting the movie?!). Furthermore, I really suck at recognizing human faces, but I believe this is Mr. George Barris behind the wheel. I'm sure he would have customized our "made for" tag to acommodate "Donald O'Connor" if only he could!

bigmacsailor wrote This is the original Mz. B Excalibur customized for his wife, Shirley and given to her as a birthday present. It was later sold to Donald O'Connor and customized again with a different hood ornament, owner plaque on dash and his name on the running boards. The car (serial # 0005) was originally sold to Don Franks, lead actor in Finian's Rainbow with Fred Astair and Petula Clark. The car appeared in 3 movies, Record City, Jukebox and Disco Fever. That is indeed George Barris pictured driving the car. The car image has been on posters, and written about in several publications. It has been in a few of the great car collections as well as fabulous automobile museums. The window etching was done by Robb Rich of Rich Cut Glass. I can assure you that there was never any mishap with the windshield. Shirley Barris simply saw his work and commissioned him to do the etching on the windshield. I am the present owner, having purchased the vehicle from the famed Petersen Automobile Museum in Los Angeles, California.

Excellent! Thanks, bigmacsailor! :) This is exactly what I always think of when researching these unique custom cars - maybe someone with first hand knowledge pops up one day and lets us in to a more detailed history of the vehicle in question. I added you as the owner and wish you always safe and pleasant trips with your Barris Kustom!
