This was an archive photo of the Commodore was used in the Russell Street Bombing.

The bombing killed 21-year-old police officer, Constable Angela Taylor (who succumbed to her injuries on the 20th April 1986) and injured 22 others.

Another victim of the Russell Street Bombing was Mark Wylie who was a detective sergeant with the Victoria Police Armed Robbery Squad.

In the early hours of the 25th April (ANZAC Day) 1986, Detective Sergeant Wylie was leading a raid on Peter Reed's home at Kalista, Victoria when Reed who had retreated to his bedroom and opened fired on the detectives.

A shot fired from Reed hit and wounded Detective Sergeant Wylie, Detective Sergeant Steve Quinsee from the Victoria Police Stolen Motor Vehicle Squad had then fired several shots at Reed, wounding him.

One of the rounds fired at Detective Sergeant Wylie had got caught in a ski parka that he was wearing and as the other detectives were unzipping the parka to check where he been shot, the bullet fell onto the floor to which Detective Sergeant Wylie said "Just mark that, we got a crime scene, I'm still in charge."

While Reed wasn't convicted for his part in the bombing, he was convicted on matters relating to his arrest, including Detective Sergeant Wylie's attempted murder and sentenced to 12 years imprisonment.

Detective Sergeant Wylie did recover from his wounds and eventually returned to duty for a brief time before retiring shortly after receiving his award for bravery.

In July 2014, Detective Sergeant Wylie committed suicide, he was 61 years old.
