In the play, Mercutio doesn't seem to care much for women and love, so some adaptations decide to portray Mercutio as a gay character, this film goes the whole hog and turns him into a drag queen, which is quite funny. |

On another forum I was reading, someone suggested that the car was based on a Ford Granada/Mercury Monarch. As a Granada coupe owner, I'll admit that the doors of the car look familiar. |

The car in the thumbnails (something from the 70's, judging by the shape and chrome accents) doesn't look one bit like the one in the main pic (which is probably an early Mitsubishi 3000GT). http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Mitsu-3000GTVR4.jpg |

i watched this movie with my class and i was kinds mentioning to my friend next to me what i thought the car was, and the jackasses behind me started saying completely random every time a car showed up in the show, "is that a ford? is that a ford?". just to be annoying. |

I agree. The main pic looks like the front end of a Mitsubishi 3000 model. |

Put a space between between 3000 and GT, so it can be categorised with the other ones. |

From the various memorabilia auctions that have listed this car (oddly, none of which have bothered to tell what it's based on), it's clearly based on an American coupe of some kind. Maybe Dodge Aspen/Plymouth Volare? |
