I was just thinking it looks like the one Tom Selleck drove on "Magnum, P.I." Since they're both 308's, I'm leaning in that direction.

I agree. Compare the bonnet vents on this one: http://www.wreckedexotics.com/308/308_20060213_001.shtml

This is a definite replica most likely built on a Pontiac Fiero donor car. Notice the missing third window on both sides, near the rear view mirrors. The hood is also not the same as a real Ferrari. The rear muffler cover should be all black, instead of two tone black and red. The rear is missing the "prancing horse" emblem and the "308" emblems are on the wrong side of the car. The wheels are also knockoffs. Too bad they blew up such a rare replica.

I don't understand the concept of a replica.

"Oh, I see you've got a Ferrari!'

- "It's a, um, fake Ferrari, based on a TR7."

"Oh."

It's like owning a Porsche 924.

The guy who owns a replica would not say "it's a fake" when you say him "ho you've got a Ferrari" :p

True, but he may blush.

Good riddance to bad rubbish! (altough at least it meant that they didn't have to destroy a genuine Ferrari).

Dudley, while the Porsche 924 is not rated as a real porsche (it was the original design for the Audi coupe but They didn't want it,especially with the original van engine fitted),it was licensed by Porsche and therefore legally wore the Porsche badge.None of these replica's are licensed by Ferrari who own the rights to the designs, and so therefore, their manufacturers are technically guilty of intellectual property theft,so it's not quite the same thing.

I know the 924 is technically a Porsche; as you say, it's just not quite the real thing.

Replica of QV - rather, though lacks side front vents.

The hood goes up with pop-up lights, normaly lights should stay down when hood goes up,
also it looks a little thinner...

No. No Porsche-technic inside. The engine is the same as the VW LT and one Audi 100 C1 had, all other parts are a horrendous mishmash of stuff from the whole VW/audi range back then, but nothing origin from Porsche.

About the missing third side-window: The real Ferrari was used in some scenes, where we can see the third side-window, and the writing "Ferrari", which is not present on the second thumbnail. I can provide a picture of the the real Ferrari, so we can list it as a real Ferrari, which sounds and looks ways better than "replica" :D
