Quite impossible, as it was registered in July 1982. While the film was shot in early September, I don't think it would be possible for a factory-new Toyota to make it from Japan to Norway and get registered in such a short time. |

I discovered something funny - if you play around with the serial number you get the production date - but whenever you enter something above 40.000 it will always display 09/1982, no matter how high the number is. The first LiteAces were sold in Norway in early 1981 (and one in 1980, possibly for testing purposes), one registered January 1st 1981 with the VIN KM20V00053688 returns - you guessed it: 09/1982. I think part of what causes this is that during the 1982 calendar year, the VINs were changed into modern ones, i.e. having JT1V as prefix, resulting in a 17-digit VIN. The VIN decoder probably identifies these as 09/1982 at the earliest but doesn't have any way of dating the serial number past the neighborhood of 40.000. Or it makes the mistake of thinking that fewer LiteAces were sold for the European market than was actually the case. Just throwing out ideas. So be careful when editing LiteAces of this generation based on VIN information. |
