Twingoman, if you know what the plate number is, you can check on the DVLA or RAC site. |

Yes, I know, but there isn't realy a close up shot of the plate for this car, except it's a P reg (1996/7) |

Since this was made in 2001 and the story is set around the time of the General Election in 1997, some of the plates on the newer cars might be fake in order for them to fit in with the period (there's quite a few P-reg plates). |

I've just been checking, and the book runs for a year from May 1997, and the series follows the book right to the end. The only car thats definately too new is the S reg 406 coupe. |

Well, it means it, but we do not take the driving-side as criteria, else there would be too much car for which the info has to be set. |

In the book, author Sue Townsend writes that Pandora drives a Mercedes convertible at first; "William was excited by Pandora's Mercedes coupe and made her put the hood up and down several times as we drove to our house." Only at the very end of the book she mentions Pandora driving a Saab. In the next and final book "Adrian Mole and the Weapons of Mass Destruction" (2004) she writes that Pandora has a silver Saab. |
