It’s basically a Herald Coupé.

More than that is up to someone else.

I spent many happy hours under mine which was a Triumph 1200.

This being an Indian film, it is a Standard Herald.

Very early one with smooth pillars. Or it's a convertible with hardtop, but I was strongly told on these pages many years ago that there were never any hardtops made for Herald convertibles (from Triumph or anyone else) despite the simplicity and usefulness of creating such a thing. Strange wheels.

Can't find any reference for Indian-build Coupes, so it's up for grabs exactly what this is. I'd vote convertible with hardtop, but the bruises from last time took a long time to heal.

They were wrong , I had two Herald convertibles when they were old bangers early 80s and remember seeing fibreglass hardtops available for them still advertised in the car mags.
One might have been by Lenham. They were a very popular convertible so why wouldn't someone do a hard top. In fact you can still buy them-

My Coupé was an old banger in 1972, when I bought it for £20. I also had a Capri, but the Herald was used for grass hill climbs after the expiry of the crankshaft in a Renault 750 with a Dauphine engine. I won the local club’s grass hill climb and prod car trial trophy with it, actually coming second, but the bloke who really won had also won another prize, so stood aside.

The rust got it, and it ended its days as a donor car.
