The white looks suspiciously like a Sunbeam Rapier [Arrow], which was sold in J in minute numbers. |

Indeed it is (though I don't understand why it is among italian cars). Worth to list that one? |

Definitely worth listing. Were the motor show stands offered to distributors (as well as the main makes)? If so, J might have followed similar arrangements to US where there were parallel West Coast and East Coast distributors who often handled several UK/European makes together, particularly the low volume makes. (see also the Jensen/Rolls-Royce pairing on another entry) |

@dsl, I've listed the Rapier. I left the year in blank as I'm not sure exactly sure when was this particular piece of footage filmed. I think somewhere in 1970-71. As for the stands in the footage, it's a bit confusing. They seem to mix a lot of foreign cars (mostly of one country origin) either in a group stand or in a seperated single stand. -- Last edit: 2020-02-08 03:55:30 |

maybe the single stands are for the makes with a bigger offer/presence ( not sure which one would fit better ) |

Alfa Romeo was imported in Japan by C.Itoh Auto, part of what is now known as Itochu Corp. But according to the japanese Wikipedia, the company also imported Chevrolets, Buicks, Oldsmobiles, plus "american & british Chryslers". Back page of 1968 Rootes Japan brochure (which contains the Rapier among other jewels) with CI logo and what looks like 7 showrooms. Interesting that the Stiletto is "Sunbeam Imp Stiletto" - a name e225 has commented previously was an Italian special name. |
