At the 1966 Le Mans, the French Racing Team, Automobiles CD fielded three SP 66s, all three failed to finish the race: No. 51 - Driven by French racing driver, Claude Laurent and co-driver, Jean-Claude Ogier, crashed into by North American Race Team ASA GT RB-613 No. 54, driven by French racing driver, François Pasquier and co-driver, Robert Mieusset after losing control on a oil slick six hours into the race with 54 laps completed, The collision had sent both cars into the wall and caught fire, Ogier survived with both arms broken. No. 52 - Driven by French racing driver, Pierre Lelong and co-driver, Alain Bertaut, failed to complete the race with clutch problems six hours into the race with 19 laps completed. No. 53 - Driven by French racing driver, Georges Heligouin and co-driver, Jean "Johnny" Rives, crashed into by the Matra Sports Matra MS620 No. 42, driven by French driver, Jo Schlesser and British co-driver, Alan Rees after swerving to avoid a crashed racecar, Auguste Veuillet Porsche 906/6 Carrera 6 No. 34 driven by French driver, Robert Buchet and German co-driver, Gerhard "Gerd" Koch during a heavy downpour nine hours into the race with 91 laps completed.
