This scene was an reenactment of the failed negotiation deal between the founder and head of Ferrari's Racing Branch, Scuderia Ferrari S.p.A.; Enzo Ferrari and the executives of the Ford Motor Company that occurred in the boardroom of the S.p.A. Ferrari Factory at Maranello, Italy on the night of 20th May 1963. In reality, Ford's general manager, Lido "Lee" Iacocca sent his assistant, Donald Frey to negotiate with Enzo Ferrari and Ferrari agreed to sell Ferrari S.p.A. to Ford for 450 million lira but then, Ferrari discovered a clause in the contract that Ford would control all of Scuderia Ferrari and their budget and would decide if Ferrari would go to any upcoming Le Man races. With this clause, Ferrari called the deal off and said in Italian that Ferrari could not operate under what he called, "The suffering bureaucracy of the Ford Motor Company". Ferrari then insulted Henry Ford II by insinuating that Ford "couldn't hold the candle" for his grandfather and founder of Ford, Henry Ford I and then he and his lawyer walked out of the boardroom. -- Last edit: 2021-12-04 15:40:22 |

Which makes both cars wrong. Merc 600 didn't start production and customer deliveries until Sept 64, the same month Ferrari 275 GTB was unveiled at Paris motor show. |
