It's a Japanese car. What you'd expect? Let's not forget the Mitsubishi Pajero, which in Spanish, Pajero means "Masturbation":D And what about the Koreans and Malaysians? Hyundai Accent and Proton Impian - What are these all about? But the most stupid car name ever, has got to be: Buick LaCrosse...pfft....Americans are really ignorant. |

Add some other vehicles to this list: - Chevy Nova: Sold in Mexico with a different label - "no va" = doesn't work - Chevy Pinto: Sold in Brasil with a different name - "Pinto" means something like "your manhood is too small" - Toyota MR-2 - the spelling of this one is very close to "merde" (shit) in French - The name of a Toyota (?) truck should have been "Fiera", meaning something like "ugly old woman" in Spanish. - VW Phaeton: Phaeton is not the name of the carriage of the Greek sun god. It's the name of the god's son, who borrowed the carriage twice without asking dad. One time, he drove the carriage with the sun too high, deep freezing the earth. Another time too low, deep frying it. There are a few more horror stories from the marketing departments gone wild. .gif ":)") |

Yeah. Boy we're dumb. Just imagine, we run around NAMING CARS names that are sensible in our native language, but don't count on them meaning "masturbation" in French Canadian, or "testicles" in Portugese, or "dung pile" in Swahili, or whatever else. In the south there are many Spanish speakers, no? And as Canada is probably an important part of their market, the US makers have probably to think also to French-canadian. Though that renaming the car for Canada market is not very difficult. |
