I think it's 'Pullman', as written on the fender, but which MK?? |

Agree on PULLMAN |

The car in the thumb has a different style of hubcap from the main picture. Are both pictures of the same car? Also, I’m not sure what a fender means on an English car, but the script is on the side of the bonnet. -- Last edit: 2019-11-21 22:00:41 |

The car in the thumbnail appeared within a few seconds after the one in the main picture (it was a scene transition, where the main character went from one place to another). I don't know if it's just the hubcap that's different on that other side, but everything else seems to match. And yes, the script is on the side of the bonnet. Excuse my mistake, sometimes incorrect terms get in the way |

You have no reason to reproach yourself. I try to be as English as possible, someone has to in the face of the onslaught of “social media” which appears to be trying to homogenise the world. Although I do have to admit to driving a German car, it has a Bentley Drivers Club badge on the grille, and our two Schnauzers are called Jambo (Swahili) and Miffy (Welsh). The car in the thumb is a Pullman rather than an Imperial, which had a third row of seats. -- Last edit: 2019-11-21 22:50:44 |

Wrapround bumpers = Dec 50+ Mk3 onwards. Agree different hubcaps, but no info on what this means - maybe the inscribed circular motif in thumb means Mk4 (Oct 53+)??? Or after looking at our collection of Pullmans and Imperials - which in some cases are best-we-can-do dates rather than definite - it's the other way round - early Mk2s with round front lights seem to have plain domes, then later Mk2s (rectangular front lights but no bumper wraprounds) seem to have central hubcap design which could continue into Mk3, then changed to simpler name bar in Mk4. So I think it could be a Mk3/4 changeover and the only external difference between them, but no idea which way it went. Also noted in case anyone decides to try and unpick our examples, that the Pullman has the full Mk1-4 sequence, but the Imperial only arrived from Sept 49 with the Mk2 package so in theory lags one Mk behind the Pullman. But I think we've matched Mks across both models so Imperial runs Mk2-4 with no Mk1 because it's a lot easier to deal with; however other sources may go Mk1-3. |
