Congratulations. If you've found this page, you'll be rewarded with some weird and fun facts about this car. It was mine. I sold it just a few months prior for $100 to a junk car dealership north of Austin, TX, then it must've been picked up by the production. How do I know? I went on a date with one of the crew of this film to the cast & crew premiere in Austin, TX. We were sitting there watching when I saw it. I chuckled, another run down old Volvo, yeah I know what that's like. That's funny, the bumper's missing, just like mine. I actually have pictures of the bumper sitting in my apartment at the time. It just randomly fell off in the parking lot one day. Oh, it looks like the front seats are crooked just like mine, too. A few other minor details I was familiar with, too. And BOOM, there it was - the yellow, Texas-shaped sticker in the driver's side corner of the front windshield. This was the parking sticker for my apartment complex, Hidden Gardens, in Austin. Notice it is visible in far shots, but it was removed for close-ups of Fergie (blooper/continuity error). Not sure if they used a 2nd Volvo for the close shots, or if they just removed the sticker for the shots. Totally strange coincidence that I should see my car up there on the big screen while on a date with someone who worked on this film. My friend on the crew confirmed for me that picking up a random local junk car is exactly what they would've done. That car had a lot of character, didn't surprise me that it became a movie star. It was nowhere near as run down as depicted in the film, but it definitely had the mileage and wear. It moved me from Columbus, OH to Austin, packed to the gills and a huge carrier bag strapped to the top. It was a solid piece of machinery given to me by my father after my previous car had broken down. If you really want to know any more about the car and where it came from, feel free to ask. Thanks.

Cool story Adams! Do you have any Volvo now? What year was this 240? Was it a GL or DL? Any pictures even? I know it was many years ago though.
I've had a couple of 240 myself. Right now I have an '88 but I doubt it will show up in any movie soon. When the production companies look for period correct cars they usually specify that it can't be red or white and mine is red.

I'll have to dig for pics, this was way back from 2003-2006. Had just gotten my first digital camera then, no smartphones, and computer memory was precious back then so they're probably on a cd disk somewhere around here. I know I took pics of it because I could NOT believe the day the bumper had just fallen off in the parking lot. The bumper was sitting right there. My only thought was the apartment complex is right around the corner from the high school there (where Friday Night Lights was filmed, btw), and I always saw kids hanging out behind the apartments, skipping school, smoking cigarettes or weed, I just figured someone had jumped on the bumper or slid on it with a skateboard. More details to confirm: it only had 1 windshield wiper, the motor for the other was broken. Some of the rear lights did not work. Another website noted it still had the factory radio - this is true. 86 was correct - 1986 240 DL, manual windows.
